Family Net Worth Calculator
Add a family's assets and liabilities to see total net worth, the asset mix and liabilities as a share of assets, with an optional view by member.
What this calculates
This calculator adds up what a family owns and what it owes on one date, and shows the net worth, the asset mix and liabilities as a share of assets. You can optionally show each member's own totals.
Net worth is a dated snapshot. It is a fact about the numbers you enter, not a score.
How it works
Assets are bank balances and deposits, EPF, PPF, NPS, mutual funds, stocks, gold, property and other assets. Liabilities are home, car and personal loans and credit card dues. Net worth is total assets minus total liabilities, and a negative result is shown as negative.
The asset mix groups the nine assets into five bars. Liabilities as a share of assets is total liabilities divided by total assets. The optional member view lists what each person owns and owes and tells you if the member figures do not add up to the family totals.
Assumptions
- Every value is one you type for the same date. Nothing is fetched or verified.
- Gold, property and other assets are at the value you choose, not a market price.
- Count the family home in or out the same way each time you compare.
- Insurance cover, future income and loans given to others are not included.

Questions about this calculator
What is family net worth?
Everything the family owns minus everything it owes, valued on one date. The calculator adds your assets, subtracts your liabilities and shows the result, the asset mix and liabilities as a share of assets.
Should I count the home I live in?
That is your choice. The calculator counts whatever you enter. If you leave the home out, leave its loan out as well, and keep the same approach each time you compare.
Can it show each family member separately?
Yes. Set the number of members, enter what each owns and owes, and the tool lists a net figure per member. It tells you if the member figures do not add up to the family totals.
