Family Room and splits

One family. Own money stays own.

Share the rent, the groceries and the Goa trip. Keep your salary to yourself. Share only what you put in the Family Room.

Short answer

A Family Room is a shared space where family or flatmates see only what you put in it. Your Personal records stay private. Example: ₹30,000 rent paid by you, split as ₹18,000 and ₹12,000, shows who owes whom. Kubear records the split and the pay-back. It never moves money.

How does sharing work in a Family Room?

  • Personal stays private. Your own records are private to you. Joining a Family Room does not share them.
  • You put in what you want shared. Members see only what you put in the Family Room.
  • The owner invites people. Each person gets a role: Owner, Can add, or View only.
  • Each person signs in with their own mobile number. There is no shared login.
  • Shared bills show who owes whom. Record a bill, say who paid, and give each person a share.

How do I split a shared bill in proportion to income?

Say rent is ₹30,000. Riya earns ₹60,000 and Arjun earns ₹40,000. Their incomes add up to ₹1,00,000, so Riya's share is 60% and Arjun's is 40%.

PersonIncomeShare of rent
Riya₹60,000₹18,000
Arjun₹40,000₹12,000
Total₹1,00,000₹30,000

An equal split would be ₹15,000 each. Which way to split is for the people involved to agree. In Kubear you type each person's exact share, and the shares add up to the bill. If Riya paid the whole ₹30,000, Arjun owes her ₹12,000 until he pays it back and it is recorded as settled.

01 / Two kinds of money

Personal. Family Room.

Your Personal records stay private by default. Shared records live only in a Family Room you are part of. The server checks every role, so a member sees only what they are allowed to see.

Personal is private

Income, savings, investments, policies. Yours, until you choose otherwise.

You put in what you want shared

Share only what you put in the Family Room. The rest stays in Personal.

One Family Room view

No switching between spaces. Personal is part of your view. Others see only what you shared.

03 / Splits

Who paid. Who owes.

Record a shared bill, say who paid, and give each person their exact share. Kubear shows the balance in plain words. "Arjun owes you." Nothing more.

  • Group page for a trip, a flat or a family.
  • Your share on every row.
  • Settle-ups are recorded once, with a receipt.
  • Share a summary as plain text.

About paying back

Kubear never moves money. "Pay a friend" only opens your own UPI app. You send the money there, then record that it was paid.

What a Family Room is not.

Not a joint bank account

Not a power of attorney

A role in Kubear gives no authority over another person's accounts or passwords.
