Rent Affordability Calculator: Rent Share of Take-Home
Short answer. Rent share is rent divided by take-home pay. Money left is take-home minus rent and other fixed dues; dividing by 30 gives a daily figure. Example: ₹20,000 rent on ₹60,000 take-home is 33%; after ₹12,000 of dues, ₹28,000 is left, ₹933 a day. In Kubear you record rent, EMIs and bills and see what is left this month.
When people use this
This calculator takes your monthly take-home pay, your rent and your other fixed dues, and shows the rent as a share of take-home, the money left after rent and dues, and that amount per day.
It uses only the numbers you type. It does not say whether a share is low or high.
The calculation is plain, repeatable arithmetic on the numbers you type. It runs in your browser, so the figures you enter are not sent to a server by this tool. Results are illustrations from the numbers you enter, not financial, tax or investment advice.
What you enter
- Monthly take-home pay
- Monthly rent
- Fixed dues besides rent (EMIs, insurance, bills)
How it works
Rent share = rent ÷ take-home pay, shown as a whole percent. Money left = take-home − rent − other fixed dues. Per day = money left ÷ 30, rounded down to whole rupees.
Fixed dues are payments that repeat every month and are due whether or not you spend on anything else, such as an EMI, a premium or a maintenance charge. Food, travel and shopping change from month to month, so they come out of the money left.
If rent and dues together are more than take-home pay, the money left is shown as a negative number, not as zero.
Assumptions
- Take-home pay is the amount credited to your bank account, after tax and PF.
- A month is taken as 30 days.
- Irregular income and yearly costs are not included.
- The rent share is a plain ratio. It is not a limit, a target or a rating.

Questions
About this calculator.
01How is the rent share worked out?
Monthly rent is divided by monthly take-home pay and shown as a whole percent. For example, ₹20,000 of rent on ₹60,000 of take-home is 33%.
02What counts as other fixed dues?
Payments that repeat every month, such as loan EMIs, insurance premiums, school fees, maintenance and utility bills. Spending that changes each month, such as food and travel, is not counted here.
03Does the calculator say what rent I can pay?
No. It shows the rent share and the money left under the numbers you type. It does not set a limit or call any share low or high.
04What if rent and dues are more than my take-home pay?
The money left is shown as a negative amount so the gap stays visible. It is never rounded up to zero.
