Step-Up SIP Calculator with Inflation

Short answer. Each month's SIP grows at an assumed yearly rate, and the SIP amount rises by the step-up each year. Example: ₹10,000 a month, a 10% yearly step-up and an assumed 12% a year project to ₹33,74,326 after 10 years, on ₹19,12,491 put in. This is arithmetic, not a forecast. How it is worked out

When people use this

This calculator projects what a monthly SIP could grow to at a return you assume, with an optional yearly step-up in the instalment. It also shows the total you put in, the growth, and the same amount in today's rupees.

The output is arithmetic on your assumption. It is an illustration, not a forecast of any fund.

The calculation is plain, repeatable arithmetic on the numbers you type. It runs in your browser, so the figures you enter are not sent to a server by this tool. Results are illustrations, not financial, tax or investment advice.

What you enter

  • Initial monthly SIP
  • Expected CAGR %
  • Investment horizon (years)
  • Annual step-up %

How it works

The yearly return is divided by 12 for a monthly rate. Each monthly instalment is carried forward at that rate until the end of the period, and all instalments are added up. With a step-up, the instalment rises by your percentage every 12 months.

The today's-money figure divides the final value by 1.06 for each year, using 6% as an illustrative inflation rate. The three-return table shows the same SIP at 8%, 10% and 12%.

Use the three-return table to see how much the answer depends on the rate you assumed. A lower rate gives a lower value, and a higher one a higher value, but none of them is a prediction. Change the step-up to see how a rising instalment adds to the total you put in.

Assumptions

  • The return is a number you choose. Real mutual fund returns vary and can be negative.
  • Each instalment is made at the start of the month.
  • Fund charges, exit loads and taxes on gains are not included.
  • Inflation of 6% a year is an illustration, not a prediction.

Worked example

₹10,000 a month for 10 years

Inputs

  • Starting monthly SIP: ₹10,000
  • Assumed annual return: 12%
  • Period: 10 years
  • Yearly step-up: 10%

Result

  • Total contributed with step-up: ₹19,12,491
  • Illustrative value after 10 years: ₹33,74,326
  • Without a step-up the same SIP would reach ₹23,23,391 on ₹12,00,000 contributed
  • The ₹33,74,326 is about ₹18,84,206 in today's money at 6% inflation

The return rate is an assumption you choose, not a forecast. Actual mutual fund returns vary and can be negative. This is an illustration with the example inputs shown, not a prediction or advice. Change the inputs on the calculator to see your own figures.

Questions

About this calculator.

01What is a step-up SIP?

A step-up SIP raises the monthly amount by a fixed percentage each year, for example when your salary rises. The calculator applies the increase every 12 months.

02Is the 12% return guaranteed?

No. It is an assumption you can change. Market-linked investments do not have guaranteed returns, so treat the output as arithmetic on your assumption, not a promise.

03Why is there an inflation-adjusted figure?

Money loses buying power over time. The calculator divides the final value by 1.06 for each year to show roughly what it would be worth in today's rupees, using 6% as an illustrative inflation rate.
